Healthy and Cosy Plant-Based Hot Chocolate Recipe for Kids!
After a full day of being every bit of their creative, funny and inquisitive selves, it can be tough to get our sprouts to settle into a quiet and calm evening routine. A fool-proof method to create a calm space is a delicious hot choccy on a cold winter’s night!
With our last recipe celebrating world chocolate day, we’re right back in the mix of things with another simple, healthy and tasty recipe that's packed with nutrients thanks to the star of the show, our Junior Plant Protein Shake.
This recipe can be made in around 5 minutes flat (or less) and is the perfect companion to a warm blanket and a good night’s sleep.
So get ready to wind things down and warm things up with this healthy plant-based hot choccy!
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups unsweetened plant milk
- 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 scoop Junior Plant-Protein Shake (Chocolate)
- 2 tbsp dairy-free chocolate (chopped)
- 1 tsp sugar (or maple syrup, agave or coconut sugar if desired)
- 1/8 tsp extract of choice (we like peppermint, vanilla or almond)
Method
Microwave
- Add plant milk of choice to a large mug and microwave for 1 minute.
- Once warmed, add cocoa powder, chocolate, Junior Plant Protein Shake and sweetener and thoroughly combine with a whisk or fork.
- Put back in the microwave to heat further.
- Taste and adjust to your desired sweetness by adding either more sweetener or plant milk.
- Add extract of choice to your heated mixture and stir thoroughly.
- Serve with vegan marshmallows, a biscuit or topped with whipped coconut cream!
